The Custard Cup at PHILLIPE'S is one of the best desserts in Los Angeles. It is almost exactly the same as it was 25 years ago (it is a smidge lighter as are most dairy-based things these days because the milk is just lighter and less milky because of all the stupid propaganda about diet that insists you listen to a chart instead of your own body). The tapioca cup is bland. The Custard Cup is dynamite. I had one tonight and it was the same perfect light watery nutmeg custard as always. Had not been to Phillipe's in a long time.
